Causes
Events leading to the movement

- Congress demanded immediate transfer of power; Gandhi called for a decisive mass struggle at Bombay in August 1942.
Results
Results
- Leaders were arrested, but spontaneous protests, strikes, sabotage and parallel governments spread across regions.
- Although suppressed militarily, it demonstrated that British rule lacked Indian consent.
